The bustling port city of Halifax, with one of the world's greatest natural harbours was an important staging point for provisions heading to war-torn Europe. On the morning of Thursday, December 6, 1917 the harbour crowded with wartime traffic saw the French cargo ship Mont Blanc, laden with explosives colliding with the Norwegian ship Imo. The subsequent fire caused what was the worldʼs largest man made explosion prior to the atomic bomb. A great swath of destruction was cut through the North End of the city and has to this day been remembered as the cityʼs greatest disaster.

The combination of maple and the nutty flavour of walnut is sure to please the most discerning coffee lover. The maple from the forest of Nova Scotia and the walnut, shipped through the Historic Port of Halifax is blended with a fine Arabica bean to provide a robust taste that will certainly get you going in the early morning.

The name may sound strange but it actually refers to a dangerous shoal just off the southern tip of Point Pleasant Park, on the approach to Halifax Harbour. Mariners in the past and today have to be very careful to avoid this treacherous area. A delicious mild roasted coffee that will keep you aware and help you avoid your “Hens and Chickens” during the daily routine.

Nova Scotia's famous Annapolis Valley, with the steep ridge of the North Mountain protecting it from the winds of the Bay of Fundy and the lush tree lined South Mountain holding the heat, has for hundreds of years been the bread basket of the province. In the fall the region produces a beautiful supply of fruit and vegetables, and is famous for it's delicious apples and world class pumpkins. As you sip this delightful coffee you will be reminded of this wonderful area and time of year.

Higgins Mountain is found in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia and, in the late summer, abounds in the provinceʼs official berry, the wild blueberry. The wild blueberry is deeply rooted in this region and loves the fertile soil on Higgins Mountain, one of Nova Scotiaʼs highest points. If you enjoy the sweet distinctive flavour of wild blueberries you will love this coffee. As it starts to brew, your kitchen will fill with the magnificent aroma of wild blueberries.

Cumberland County, in Northern Nova Scotia is the heart and centre of the Maple Syrup industry in the province. The vast untracked expanse of maple groves, fresh clear streams and heavy covers of snow in these highlands come together to provide us with the much sought after maple products we all love. The hint of maple in this wonderful coffee will bring you back to the cold nights, warm days and large plumes of steam rising from the woods in the spring of the year.

One hundred billion tons of water, that’s a lot of water! Believe it or not, This is the amount of seawater flowing in and out of the Bay of Fundy every single day. More water than the combined flow of all the world’s fresh water rivers- think about it, that includes the Nile, the Amazon, and the St. Lawrence River, to name a very few. These rivers are no push over, so the Bay of Fundy is pretty special. Straddling Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, the Bay of Fundy has played a very important part in shaping, both geographically and culturally these two Maritime Provinces of Canada’s East Coast. This Bay having highest tides in the world also makes some great mud for playing in. Roasted on site in our coffee loft, all of our artisanal coffees are crafted in small batches by trained roasters allowing them to have complete control of the process from raw coffee to finished drink.
